Badia a Coltibuono, Riserva 2009 Chianti Classico
Certified organic since 2000. Made only from their autochthonous and organic Sangiovese (90%), Canaiolo, Colorino and Ciliegiolo, from massale-selected vines planted on the stony clay soils of Monti-in-Chianti, close to Gaiole, Badia’s Riserva is made only in exceptional years, dating back to 1937. Fermented using wild yeasts and aged for 24 months in large French and Austrian casks.
Pale ruby. Real impact and classic piercing acidity. Long. Absolutely classic Chianti. Great persistence. Sort of effortless (ha, ha they’d say presumably) brilliance.
