Domaine de Cebene À La Venvole Faugères 2021

Full bottle 1,323 g – perhaps they are lightening their bottles? Certified organic. Their earlier drinking cuvée of Faugères. From the vines round the cellar at the top of the hill, a mix of Grenache with a bit of Syrah and Carignan, ‘young and old’. No sulphites and no cultured yeast during vinification. Fairly brief ageing in tank.
Dark crimson. Lifted, very ripe black-fruited nose. Neat, quite dry finish without the lingering of their more ambitious cuvées. Businesslike introduction to the style but without the depth and lusciousness. It’s actually a little less approachable than most of them thanks to that dry, sudden finish. It’s still a very well-made wine but perhaps deserves to be presented first rather than last? (I followed the order on my tech specs.)
