Aged in mid-sized casks and larger 1500-4000 liter barrels, her Brunellos don’t conform to any predefined stylistic school, yet they express the appellation’s most pervasive and somehow stern qualities. If we had to summarize the Brunello ’15 with an adjective it would be ‘captivating’. So it is in color, in the elegance and richness of its fruit, in the finesse of its tannic texture and in its long, alluring finish. A masterful performance. The Prime Donne ’15 has more depth than texture. It’s just a bit marked by alcohol at this stage, but it will improve.

Donatella Cinelli Colombini 2015 Brunello di Montalcino
Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet and a little stalky on the nose and mellow and gentle on the palate. Looks older than it is and lacks a little in vigour. (WS)

Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Fragrant maraschino cherry and hints of oak on the nose. Already some development on the palate with cherry fruit wrapped in tobacco leaf. Generous supple fruit spiked with powdery tannins that take the upper hand on the finish. Food! (WS)
